The powerful balling press machine is a widely applied equipment designed to compress powdered materials into briquettes, serving purposes such as agglomeration, pelletization, or briquetting. It is primarily utilized for balling and briquetting non-ferrous and ferrous metal ore concentrates, enabling direct feeding into furnaces for smelting to enhance added value. Essentially, any metallurgical waste or auxiliary materials requiring furnace charging necessitate the use of a briquetting machine. Examples include dust collector fines, sludge, mill scale, steel slag, iron ore concentrate, aluminum dross powder, silico-manganese ore powder, and laterite nickel ore, among others. Its objectives are to reduce dust emission, control bulk density, facilitate recycling and reuse, and improve transportation characteristics. The capacity is primarily engineered for producing briquettes from dry powders used as pelletized feed in the Pidgeon magnesium smelting process.
Working principle:
The machine is driven by an electric motor, which transmits power through a belt drive to a reducer, followed by a coupling and a pair of open gears, ensuring synchronous operation (constant speed and opposite direction) of the two roll shafts. The material is fed uniformly into the hopper by a metering device, where it is compressed by the pair of main rolls. The finished briquettes then fall onto a conveyor below for transportation. The pressure between the two rolls is applied by hydraulic cylinders that push against the bearing housings of the active and passive rolls. The pressure can be increased or decreased by adjusting the hydraulic pump station.
This machine is particularly effective for processing loose materials such as coke powder, mineral powder, nickel ore, iron oxide scale, coal slime, various metallurgical powders, sponge iron, carbon products, and similar materials.
Performance Features:
This machine mainly consists of several major components: the feeding section, the cover section, the transmission section, and the forming section.
The feeding section is primarily fabricated by welding high-quality medium-carbon steel plates and channel steel.
The cover section is made from high-quality carbon steel plates. The cover prevents slurry-like and powdery materials from escaping, facilitates dust sealing, and improves the working environment.
Transmission section: Power is transmitted from the motor through the large and small belt pulleys and the reducer to the forming section. The roll assemblies are driven by the power to rotate at a constant speed, compressing the material fed from the inlet end. The compressed material then falls onto a conveyor below and is transported by a belt conveyor to the finished product stockpile.
Forming section: The roll bodies are castings that undergo heat treatment, resulting in a compact structure and long service life.
The machine frame is welded from high-quality carbon structural steel and channel steel, providing support for the entire unit. Foundation bolt holes are in the support legs of the frame for securing the machine to a level concrete foundation.
